Calendar invitations sent from noreply@insideicloud.com

Hi

iMac / El Capitan / Calendar application / to send an invitation.

The outgoing message shows up at the recipients email as being sent from: 'noreply@insideicloud.com'

I would like to have the option to decide which of "my email accounts" an invitation is sent from (IE: personal or work, other)

Also, when people receive an email from noreply@insideicloud.com they are inclined to believe that they have received a SPAM or SCAM email and delete my invitation.

The question:

Is there a way to configure the calendar invitation so that I can decide which of my several email address a new invitation is sent from, and have that email address show up at the receivers email inbox? (without changing the primary mail account each time I want to send an invitation). More like selecting the send account the same way I do in a new mail message.

There are two ways to send invitations: by name, or by email address.

If the invitee is specified by name and is in your Contacts database with an email address, or if he or she is specified by email address, then Calendar will send the invitation to that address, via the mail server that the invitee uses.

If the event is in a shared network calendar (such as an iCloud calendar), and the invitee is specified by name only, then the invitation will be sent through the calendar server.

In either case, the information that Calendar uses to contact the invitee must be valid.

Maybe it will help to restate the question:


"The question:

OR

How does the inviter have his calendar invitation show up at the invitee''s inbox with the inviter's email address as the sender not the calendar servers email address as the sender?


Anyone out there who might have some insight into the above question would be of great help. I do not believe the above noted 'support article' addresses this issue.

Just wondering if anyone's found the solution to this issue? I have the same concern; I need to be able to select the email address the receiver sees in the email invite. Currently my system is sending from "noreply@email.apple.com". Not only does this address seem to get caught in spam filters, it doesn't look professional for business use and recipients can't simply "reply" to the email request.


(it amazes me how advanced macOS & iOS are to still have these kinds of seemingly obvious limitations.)

Re-read the terms & conditions for iCloud.


I don't believe it is intended to be used for businesses. If you want 'corporate quality' services you either need to run your own OS X server (which has runs own domain and mail server etc) or use third parties designed for enterprise use (like Google apps for my domain).


I think iCloud has an enterprise service, but I think that is mostly for the App stores.

That's too bad, seems like a rather restrictive way to use Calendar. I can understand Apple not wanting to process business type data but at least create an option to be able to send an invite and add a calendar entry (with invitees) coming from a different email address; preferably a non-.iCloud/.Me account.


In my tests with Apple today, it seems to only send from noreply@email.apple.com and when you select my name (the senders name) it shows the primary Apple ID email address. It doesn't even seem to give you the option to use an Apple ID alias which would allow for at least some flexibility. Now, I'll be discouraged from using Calendar to send invites especially because it exposes my Apple ID email address that I don't want contacts to see. Hopefully something Apple will enhance.

I have seen numerous complaints here over the years about how Apple services do not fit business needs, the best advice I have is to find a solution that does support your requirements. iOS & Mac OS can use third party services that use open standards for calendar, contacts, mail etc.

Thanks again Drew Reece - I've submitted feedback! It seems like feedback is sent to an inbox that is not monitored. I wonder if Apple actually even cares to improve their OS based on user feedback. I get the impression (although I prefer Apple over Windows) that Apple takes the position of "take what we give you" and "we'll address user feedback when we do...maybe".


This is not only an issue of business use but simply having the flexibility to choose the email address a Calendar invitation comes from. As it is now - sending Calendar invites exposes the senders primary apple ID email address which for users like myself is not the address I want my recipients to see or be aware of. This basically renders the Calendar invite feature useless to me and users alike. The 3rd party apps are a bit pricey and I prefer to use the Apple native apps over 3rd party. I guess I'll have to look into a new Calendar service at some point but this is such a pain in the *** being that I'd really prefer to use the Apple Calendar App.
